Description/Basics

Rolling bearings

Rolling bearings are generally divided into ball bearings and roller bearings. Ball bearings are a popular type of rolling bearings due to their high permissible speed and low friction.
In the MISUMI online shop, you can purchase ball bearings that can be customized to your applications and environmental conditions. Our ball bearings are available in different materials and in a combination of different materials (hybrid bearings). In addition, MISUMI offers ball bearings already integrated into the housing as bearing housing.

Grooved ball bearings

Grooved ball bearings are the most commonly used rotary rolling bearings. This type of ball bearing is ideally suited for supporting rotating machine elements. A grooved ball bearings are intended for load bearing of radial forces and light axial forces. Grooved ball bearings are designed for high speeds and are used in a wide variety of industrial applications and designs. MISUMI already offers ball bearings integrated into housings and holders as bearing housings.

Ball bearing materials

In the MISUMI online shop, ball bearings are available in cost-effective rolling bearing steel, corrosion-resistant stainless steel and stainless steel. Furthermore, our product range includes various hybrid bearings in the following combinations: metal & ceramic, plastic & ceramic, plastic & glass.

Our various materials offer good resistance to various environmental influences. Our ball bearing shop includes the ball materials stainless steel, steel, UHMW, PEEK, PTFE, ceramic and glass.

Instructions for Use / Installation Information - Ball Bearings

Installation Information

An incorrect assembly and disassembly can damage a ball bearing. Therefore, a suitable tool must always be used to assemble and disassemble ball bearings or roller bearings.
Ball bearings should not be assembled with a hammer, as this can deform the ball bearing. It is recommended using a suitable press. During pressing, the contact surface can be provided with lubricant to protect the surfaces and facilitate assembly.
It is best to use a bearing puller for disassembly.

Maintenance

The ball bearing in roller bearings should be inspected for damage during maintenance.
Before regreasing, a ball bearing should first be thoroughly cleaned.
Remaining contamination in the bearing can damage the ball bearing. As a rule, a ball bearing should not be completely filled with grease, as this can cause the bearing to heat up too much and can cause it to fail.
For encapsulated and sealed ball bearings, it is recommended to replace the bearing. Maintenance is not recommended due to the risk of damage to the cover place or seal.
